The thought process follows “If this company is ranked first on Google, they MUST be the best in the area for this type of business.” This is also coupled with online reviews, especially on a Google business page. If you’re on the 2nd page while your competitor is on the first page of Google and has multiple 5 star reviews for their business. The statistics show that 9 out 10 clicks will go to them. This is detrimental when it comes to bringing in leads or traffic to your website.
