Tech Meetups: TriLug (Triangle Linux Users Group)

Business Networking, Events, Tech Meetup Monday

Here in the Triangle(Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), techies have a wide variety of choices for unique meetups groups that fit our interests. There never seems to be enough time in the week to visit them all so each week we will highlight a local tech focused meetup group. We live in one of the best tech areas in the country and our meetup groups are a lively extension of this. From Bitcoin to Robotics, the Triangle has a meetup group for every subsector of the tech world. Our goal is to promote and highlight the best in the triangle to help you make your scheduling decisions easier.

Who Are They?

The Triangle Linux Users Group is one of the oldest tech focused meetup groups in the Triangle. Founded over 10 years ago as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit TriLug’s primary purpose is:

“To share and advance Linux and other Free (as in Freedom) and Open Source Software, hardware, and practices through education, outreach, and community building in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) region of North Carolina.”

Last Month Recap?

Last month we had the privilege of hosting Francois Dion where he gave a presentation on how to use Linux for professional video and and audio production. He covered some of the hardware that should be part of your production suite, from microphones to jog wheels and highlight some of the top tools for animation, audio, broadcasting, effects, modeling, music, transcoding and video. He also went beyond the usual suspects and introduce some tools that might not be typically used for AV production. Full video below!

Hosted By?

Recently, we here at Oak City Technology partnered with TriLug to host their monthly events at our office in conjunction with RTP and The Frontier Building. We are extremely excited to add TriLug to our family of local partners and look forward to a great future together here at The Frontier!

Who Is The Group Meant For?

This meetup group is perfect for all levels of linux users or anyone who may just be interested in getting started with Linux. The group is extremely friendly and loves to answer questions on all things linux. If you have a problem with your system and want to talk to someone in person, there’s no better place in the triangle to do so after work hours.
